Gertrude

Gertrude can be perceived as someone who is shallow and who does not have a mind of her own. I believe however, that Gertrude is not as dumb as she seems. I believe that she denies the truth and tells white lies simply to protect herself and others from the unfortunate truth. She does not want to believe her unfortunate reality so she acts as if all is well, when deep down she is fully aware of the evil and vengeance present in her family.
